Getting from Glasgow City Centre to SEC

By Train: The SEC has its own station - Exhibition Centre.  There are six Scotrail trains an hour (around every 10 minutes) from Glasgow Central Station, departing from Platform 17 (low level).  Journey time is 3 minutes. A lift is available at Exhibition Centre to take you to street level. A covered walkway connects the station to the SEC.

By Bus: The 100 Riversider bus runs between Glasgow Central Station and the SEC every 30 minutes (journey time 7 minutes).

By Car: The main car park is the multi-storey at 10 Stobcross Road, G3 8YW.

Getting to Glasgow
 

Glasgow is within easy reach of three international airports (Glasgow International Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Edinburgh Airport). 

All three airports are linked to the city centre by bus or train. Travel times from each airport to Glasgow city centre:

Glasgow Airport:                     20 minutes by bus, bus & train, or taxi
Glasgow Prestwick Airport:    50 minutes by train (3 trains per hour)
Edinburgh Airport:                  60 minutes by bus (direct from Edinburgh Airport to 
                                                                                   Glasgow's main bus station)

There are regular daily flights between international hubs such as London, Amsterdam, Dubai or Reykjavik and direct flights from a number of North American and European cities.  Emirates and Etihad airlines also fly into Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports.

There are a range of direct low cost European connections run by operators such as Easyjet, Jet2 and Ryanair.

Getting from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow City Centre

By Train:   The nearest train station to Glasgow Airport is Paisley Gilmour Street.  Take the McGill's 757 bus (every 15 minutes) from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street (journey time 13 minutes).  Tickets can be purchased from the driver.  Take the train to Glasgow Central Train Station (journey time 10 minutes).

By Bus:  Take the Glasgow Express service 500 (every 10 minutes) from stance 1 at Glasgow Airport to Bothwell Street at Hope Street near Glasgow Central Train Station (journey time approximately 20 minutes).  Tickets can be purchased from the driver. 

By Taxi: Follow the signs for the taxi rank, which is located across the road from the arrivals terminal.

Getting from Edinburgh Airport to Glasgow City Centre

There are no direct trains from Edinburgh Airport.  From the terminal take the tram (every 7 minutes) to Edinburgh Park train station (journey time 13 minutes).  From there take the train to Glasgow Queen Street Station.  Change trains at Haymarket (journey time 90 minutes).  

Transfer from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Glasgow Central Station.

Getting from Prestwick Airport to Glasgow City Centre.

Prestwick Airport has a train station at the terminal. Take the train (every 20 minutes)to Glasgow Central Station (journey time 45 minutes).

Getting around the City
Glasgow is a compact city and it is easy to get around on foot.  Public transport is also safe and efficient.  

There is a subway system plus extensive bus and train networks for getting around the city and beyond.  Black taxis are also a safe and cost effective option if you are travelling as part of a group.  Glasgow's taxi drivers are known to be some of the friendliest in the world!

Glasgow also has a city-wide public cycle hire scheme, operated by Nextbike, with 400 bicycles for hire from 31 locations around the city, including the SEC.
